2009 Bear trophys
2009 was a first. We actually had spring bear hunts in the snow!
Todd Cast and his group did well tagging 2 nice bears the first evening. The third took a little longer. Actually it took until the last evening
but who's counting. 2 before the snow and 1 after. Still works out to 100%.
Todd got things started!
David Park takes one for the record book.
Ben Stovall got a great bear too but the pictures didn't come out.
The second week hunters didn't show so Josh and I went and did some hunting. We sat together all week and saw 16 bears
including this nice one.
.
The bears were pretty hungry and often would not give us time to leave before coming in!
The 3rd week was very productive.
Arron Stephenson started us out with a huge 370# boar with a 19 2/16 noggin.
After that it didn't take his dad long.
This beautiful chocolate boar was to much temptation to pass so Reagan Stephenson
put him down with a great shot.
The same day Denny McDaniels took an outstanding one eared cinamon bruin.
It's rare enough to take such nice colored bears much less 2 on the same day!
Made for a great photo
Well last but not least Jeff Drewett took this nice bruin on the last day of his hunt.
Still we weren't done. I was after a bear to get mounted for the lodge and got very lucky on Sunday afternoon after the hunters left
taking this great boar.
He set the new camp record for a bear that made it to the scales at 470# and is #2
after Steve Doughtery's 2005 Booner on skull size at 20 15/16.
He also set the camp record with this full 6" front pad. Before you start thinking Andy had this bear tied up,
other hunters were in this stand each of the 2 days preceding the kill.
